You can undo/redo MixConsole parameter changes for an open project at any time. Furthermore, you can set up the input and output routing for multiple tracks or channels at the same time. It allows you to control level, pan, solo/mute status, etc. The MixConsole provides a common environment for producing mixes in stereo or surround. There are two types of markers: position markers and cycle markers. Markers are used to locate certain positions quickly. The transpose functions for audio and MIDI in Cubase allow you to change the pitches of audio and MIDI for playback without changing the actual MIDI notes or the audio. This way, you do not need to move, copy, and paste events in the Project window. Using an arranger track allows you to specify how and when specific sections are played back, even in live performances. The arranger functions in Cubase allow you to work in a non-linear fashion. Quantizing is designed to correct errors, but you can also use it in a creative way.įades allow you to gradually increase or decrease the volume at the start or end of audio events or audio clips, and to create smooth transitions. Quantizing means moving recorded audio or MIDI and positioning it on the nearest grid position that is musically relevant. You can add audio and MIDI files to your project by importing them. In Cubase, you can record audio and MIDI. This is useful if you have no external MIDI instrument at hand and you do not want to draw in notes with the Draw tool. The On-Screen Keyboard allows you to play and record MIDI notes by using your computer keyboard or mouse. You can also work with selection ranges, which are independent from the event/part and track boundaries.Ĭubase offers multiple methods and functions to control playback and transport. Parts and events are the basic building blocks in Cubase.Įditing in the Project window is not restricted to handling whole events and parts. In Cubase, events and parts are placed on tracks. Tracks are the building blocks of your project. Each track is assigned to a particular channel strip in the MixConsole. Tracks are listed from top to bottom in the track list and extend horizontally across the Project window. They allow you to import, add, record, and edit parts and events. You must create and set up a project to work with the program. In Cubase, projects are the central documents. The Project window provides an overview of the project, and allows you to navigate and perform large scale editing. Here, you can also set up group and FX channels, external effects, external instruments, and the Control Room. To play back and record in Cubase, you must set up input and output busses in the Audio Connections window. To use Cubase, you must set up your audio, and if required, your MIDI system. Here you will find detailed information about all the features and functions in the program. This is the Operation Manual for Steinberg’s Cubase. The following list informs you about the most important improvements in Cubase and provides links to the corresponding descriptions.

If medical requests in your prison service used to be regularly turned down, then they might also have been associated with “kite-flying”?īy the way, I notice a citation in the OED entry has this:ġ831 Visct. I remember that, in the Royal Navy, “to fly a kite” also meant, by extension, “to make a request that you had little expectation of having accepted”. The OED suggests that it comes from the practice of putting up a kite to see which way the wind is blowing at altitude. This may come from a variation on the common English expression, “to fly a kite”, meaning “to make a suggestion in order to guage the response” before committing to a course of action. This entry was posted in Inmate issues, Jail culture, Language and tagged correctional medicine, inmates, jail medicine, jails, Kite, language, prisons, slang by Jeffrey Keller MD. But is it true?Ĭan anyone out there shed some light on this subject? Where did the term “kite” originate? This explanation of the term makes sense to me, so I tend to believe it. Since the folded up note attached to a piece of string resembled a kite, it was called a “kite,” and the term “kite” then became a universal prison term for any written communication, including requests for medical care. He then swings the note attached to the string underneath his cell door and into the cell of his friend. The inmate folds up a note and ties it to a long piece of string. “Kite” probably came instead from the prison practice of communicating with another inmate in the next cell or even many cells away. I need to see the doctor.” Deputy: “Oh, go fly a kite.” Although many inmates believe this, I myself don’t think this is where the term comes from. Some inmates believe that the term “kite” implies that we don’t care about them, as in: Inmate: “I’m sick. So where did the term “kite” come from? I have heard two explanations. Even the dictionaries devoted to slang, like The Online Slang Dictionary or the Slang Dictionary don’t list the term “kite.” How can a slang term be so common in jails and prisons yet be unknown to linguists? Stuart….recalls that ‘go pound sand in your ears’ meant to soft-pedal the noise” It dates back to the early 20th century in which a more vulgar version was used in 1969 by Max Yasgur when arguing with local dignitaries over bringing his Woodstock to Bethal, New York, saying: “Well, you can all go pound salt up your because come Aug 15, we’re going to have a festival!”Įarlier, a less vulgar version appeared in the Southeast Economist, Chicago, 1948: “From her store of memories, Mrs. The phrase originated in the US and is more common in the Midwest. The origin of the expression “go pound sand” is from a longer expression, “not to know / have enough sense to pound sand down a rat hole.” Since filling rat holes with sand is menial work, telling someone to pound sand down a hole is like telling them to go fly a kite. Origin: Apparently, “Go pound salt” is the less vulgar version of “go pound sand”. What does it mean? Basically another way to say “get lost” or “go away” What was said? Each transformer has a center tapped secondary coil and one of them can be connected to the neutral. Yes there are hybreds particularily where the delta is formed using 3 single 120/240 volt single phase transformers. Most are 3 wire and do not extend any neutral connection. i never owned an all electric coach so I don't know if any of those have any 240 volt applications.Ī 240 volt 3 phase servicce is intended to supply 3 phase load only. All I really want is enough juice to run a small space heater so I don't have any freezing problems in the relatively mild Eugene Oregon winters.ĭon, I so can't handle 3 phase vector math that I don't even know what it is! Am I looking for trouble here?Īquahot does upply a 240 volt electric heat element in one of it's larger models. A 30 amp connection would suit my purposes as well. From ground (obvious because it was tied to the metal box) the other 3 legs read 110, 110 and 190? My logic says to use the two 110 legs and ground but, my logic has gotten me in a lot of trouble in the past. I finally got around to checking the voltage in the compressor house where I intend to install my outlet. Everything that an electrician does must conform to the electrical code.Īs usual, the knowledge in this group and willingness to help out is amazing. The thought about using a licensed electrician is certainly not a bad idea I am a Power Engineer not an electrician. Most space heaters are 1500 watt and draw from 12 to 15 amps depending on the actual voltage. I also agree with someone's comment about the additional load on the wiring that may not be adequate. BTW what is the voltage specified on the pump label. In my opinion it would be a lot simpler than using the 2 phases. If you extend this as a 30 amp service to the coach it has to be the phase, the neutral and the ground. In any case you can not use the ground in place of the neutral. I don't see why you would need both phases if all you need is 120 volts. The normal 30 amp service in RV parks is a 120 volt service not a 240/120 volt service. Why did you not measure the phase to neutral voltage? You said it was a 3 phase 4 wire feed to the pump. I'm not being picky as there could be a difference in this case especially since I am not hearing what the voltage is to the neutral. You did not however say what the phase to phase voltage was at the same time. You said 110 from each phase to the metal case that appears to be grounded. This is no time to be casual about actual voltages. That is not the case in a single phase 240/120 volt service where there in no phase angle involved. If you extend 2 of the 3 phase legs then the voltage between each will be 240 volts but also they will be out of phase with each other by 120 degrees. Not knowing all of the details here, I am forced to answer your question with a yes you may be asking for trouble. |
